Sprue Inspector
Job Description & Duties
Job Responsibilities:
Position castings as necessary and strike with hammer various areas of gates, risers, sprue or castings to break off and de-sprue. Occasionally will position castings on floor and break off with a sledge hammer and will also break off sprue in boxes
Alternate method: use wedge type sprue machine where applicable or a combination of nos. 1 and 2
Observe and control vibrator conveyers as necessary to prevent pile-ups at various stations
Sort castings from containers and vibrating conveyor and store in various containers. Hook-pull scrap in scrap box
Report equipment malfunctions or problems to immediate supervisor
Visually inspect castings for obvious defects
Place defective castings in proper container and notify Quality Assurance and/or supervisor
Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly
Strictly adhere to safety regulations especially pertaining to use of tools and power equipment in the Foundry Department
