Coil Winder I

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Wind wire coils used in electrical components; less than 150 KVA
  • Ability to use Copper Brazing and Aluminum TIG Welding
  • Uses machines including hydraulic coil press and 55” arbor length
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling        instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, and determines sequence of operations
  • Attach, alter and trim materials such as wire, insulation, and coils using hand and power tools
  • Cut, strip, and bend wire leads at the ends of coils using pliers and wire scrapers
  • Select and load material equipment used in coiling processes
  • Move controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other and to set specific feeds and speeds
  • Observe operation of machine and verify conformance of product to specifications
  • Fills out standard department forms
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical school education preferred
  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Capable of working under general supervision based on guidance and direction provided by team members
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Bending, twisting, crouching, reaching, pulling, and pushing depending on tasks of the job
  • Steady hands with dexterity to complete labor related tasks
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Ability to drive a forklift once certified with Olsun
  • Visually see details of objects both more or less than a few feet away
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses and steel toed shoes
  • Must be able to operate test equipment, machinery, and power tools
  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud
