Planer Feeder Tech

Responsibilities:

  • Total commitment to working safe and following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Set up and Align the Planer machine.
  • Maintain planer machine and infeed component to satisfactory specifications.
  • Grind side heads, change knives and perform Planer PM’s and repair planer machine and infeed components.
  • Ensure a smooth lumber flow to and through the Planer and to produce Lumber with a high-quality finish.
  • Communicating with team members and leadership to improve safety and operating performance as well as meet job expectation.

Requirements:

  • Able to work overtime, holidays, as well as weekends with days off during week.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to work safely.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to work well with others.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to work without close supervision.
  • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Must be familiar with hand tools and be able to use them to change knives, service the machine, etc and have mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to learn & understand basic computer operation.
  • Must be willing to work occasional nights as needed and weekends.
  • Must be willing to help train others.

  • Previous planer experience is preferred.

  • Preventative Maintenance, within the plant and across the property, inspecting and
    maintaining the various equipment and machinery (e.g., primary and secondary
    processing equipment,kilns , boiler, planer mill, bag houses, dust collectors,conveyor belts,
    reducer, switches ,etc.)
  • Repairs of the various machinery, components and structures

Requirements

  • Lifting: Essential to lift tool pouches, hand tools, come-a-longs, parts and equipment weighing up to and over 100 lbs., including cylinders (e.g. 70 lbs.), components, ladders, materials and supplies. Lifting occurs at all levels from floor to overhead heights.
  • Carrying: Lightweight items may be carried extended distances, items weighing between 35 and 50 lbs. are generally carried no further than 20 feet, and items weighing up to 75 lbs. are generally carried only 2-3 feet. Assistive devices including hoists, dollies, forklifts are used to move heavier items whenever possible.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Light to heavy pushing and pulling force is required to remove, replace, position, maneuver machine parts, and assistive devices such as hoists and chain falls are used whenever possible to facilitate pushing and pulling activities. Assistance is also available from other personnel.
  • Bending and Squatting): Essential to bend at the waist to work on lower levels of equipment and machinery, inspect operational conditions, troubleshoot and diagnose problems, pick something up from lower levels. Essential to squat for short duration when completing repairs, replacement, inspecting and diagnosing problems.
  • Essential to climb stairs, ladders, essential to climb onto equipment and machinery
  • Twisting: Essential to twist upper body while moving something, making repairs, completing maintenance activities.
  • Crawling: Essential to crawl beneath or onto equipment and machinery.

  • Driving: Essential to drive mobile equipment including forklift, welding truck, man-lift.

Boiler Operator

Responsibilities:

  • Total commitment to working safe and following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Start and stop Boilers as needed depending on steam usage from kilns.
  • Stop kilns when kiln has reached end of drying cycle as displayed by moisture content set point and to test probe kiln charges to ensure lumber has been properly dried.
  • Start kiln charges once they have been loaded.
  • Assist Large Forklift operators in loading and unloading kilns.
  • Maintain Boilers and kilns to satisfactory specifications.

Heavy Forklift Operator

Responsibilities:

  • Operate large forklift 36000 lbs capacity to move pack of green/Dry lumber from the sawmill, Kilns or Green/Dry yard. Correctly stack the lumber on kiln carts for drying, breakdown carts of dried lumber and place packs of dried lumber into dry storage area
  • Stage packs of lumber for current planer run and Place Packs of Dried lumber onto tilt hoist at planer.
  • Operate and maintain CDK kilns carts and PMs. Ensure quality dried lumber, including cleaning of the kilns and maintaining housekeeping standards in the area.
  • Manage lumber rotation (green and dry) and follow QC guidelines, input lumber location and audit Rough Dry/Green lumber inventory weekly.
  • Band lumber at green stacker.
  • Assist with kiln Change overs.
  • Service, maintain and wash equipment.
  • Fix bad packs.
  • Set up and break down green and dry lumber at the CDK and Batch Kilns
  • Cover shift and provide breaks for Green Stacker and Planer as needed.
  • Pick up loose boards across yard, band re-run as needed.

Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including but not limited to air brakes, hydraulics, and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot engine malfunctions using schematics and diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace faulty parts, such as transmissions, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Align and adjust engine components to ensure proper operation.
  • Conduct inspections of diesel engines to identify potential issues or areas of improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to complete complex repairs or projects.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working on diesel engines.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, including knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and transmission.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in repairs and maintenance tasks.
